The Pilbara Area Consultative Committee is part of the Australian Government's key regional network  and extends from the major coastal towns Port Hedland and Karratha to the inland communities of Newman and Tom Price.  
 
The Pilbara region of Western Australia, the States second most northern region, covers an area of over 502,000 square kilometres, which is approximately 20 percent of the State’s total area.
 
Pilbara ACC is made up of voluntary community members representing the far north region, including key industry stakeholders.  In the last four years our Board has assisted in attracting more than $4,052,073 in Australian Government funding in the Pilbara Region with a total value of over $18,946,342 million to the local community.
 
The Pilbara ACC works in partnership with the Department of Infrastructure,Transport, Regional Development and Local Government to identify opportunities, priorities and development strategies for the region.

Transitioning to Regional Development Australia (Pilbara)

The Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, the Hon Anthony Albanese MP announced on March 20 the establishment of Regional Development Australia (RDA) which, on January 1, 2009, replaced Area Consultative Committees (ACCs).

The new RDA network will build on the success of its predecessor, but will take on a broader role to develop strategic input into national programs to improve the coordination of regional development initiatives and ensure that there is effective engagement with local communities. read more
